Step aboard in Cologne to begin a week-long river cruise to some of the Rhine's most enchanting destinations. See the vine-clad hills surrounding Rudesheim and explore the historic wine town itself. Join a guided tour of Strasbourg in Kehl to discover the canals and medieval houses of the Alsace capital's Petite France quarter, and visit Mainz to visit its great Romanesque cathedral and stroll the winding, cobbled streets of the old town. Make your own way from the UK to Cologne where your cruise begins. Head to the riverside to board your A-ROSA river cruiser, and then spend the rest of your day getting to know the boat and settling into life on board.

Today A-ROSA AQUA arrives in Kehl, and you'll have the chance to join a day-trip to Strasbourg. Discover the canals, covered bridges, cobbled streets and half-timbered buildings of Petite France, and pay a visit to "Europe's oldest Christmas market", which fills the shadow of the city's magnificent cathedral with festive bustle until the end of December each year.

At the end of a fascinating, relaxing day, A-ROSA AQUA will slip away from Kehl and head back downriver towards Mainz.

After a night spent cruising swiftly but smoothly south, A-ROSA AQUA will arrive in Rudesheim. Climb the hill to take in the views from beside little Bossenburg Castle down to its waterside neighbour the Bromserburg, follow the hiking paths out of town to where the ruins of Burg Ehrenfels guard the bend of the river, or wander the Drosselgasse from wine tavern to wine tavern in search of the perfect glass of local Riesling or Pinot Noir.

After another night cruising upstream and the Main, A-ROSA AQUA will arrive in Frankfurt. Head ashore for a stroll through Frankfurt's historic old town and the delightful lanes of Sachsenhausen - where you'll find countless cafes and bars serving traditional Ebbelwoi or Apfelwein cider - and to see the towering facade of Frankfurt's cathedral, the Kaiserdom, then return to A-ROSA to begin your New Year festivities and take full advantage of the special festive food and entertainment on offer this evening.

The capital of the Rhineland-Palatinate, once the site of a Roman border fort, and the city where Johannes Gutenburg set up his first printing press in the 1450s, Mainz is a welcoming hybrid of pretty streets, historic buildings and thriving modern culture.

Spend the first day of 2020 cruising gently back down the meanders of the Main, and past the castle-capped hills and quiet vineyards of the of the Middle Rhine, on your way to Koblenz. Explore this pretty Rhineland town, which straddles the confluence of the Rhine and the Moselle under the watchful gaze of imposing Ehrenbreitstein Fortress on the opposite bank, or simply make the most of your final day on board.

Disembark in Cologne as your cruise comes to an end and you begin your journey home.

If you have notified us of any special requirements, please check that they have been noted and acknowledged. This is especially important with any dietary needs you may have.

Tipping

Tipping is not compulsory, but from experience we know that many passengers like to leave gratuities for the crew. At the end of the cruise you will find a tip box for the entire crew at the reception and the suggested amount is five Euros per guest per day. Of course, you are free to tip individual crew members at any time, should you wish.

Disabled guests and guests in need of assistance

All ships have stairs, are not equipped with lifts, and may not be suitable for passengers with restricted mobility.

Dress code

The dress code on board and ashore is comfortable and casual; we recommend that you bring sturdy footwear for excursions. For the restaurant we recommend smart casual dress. Please remember to bring warmer clothes for evenings out on deck.

Wi-Fi

Wi-Fi is provided free of charge in accordance with A-ROSA's conditions of use. You can request a login and password from reception. Internet reception is limited and will vary from location to location.

Luggage

Where possible, we recommend non-rigid suitcases as these are easier to store within your cabin.

Pool

A heated pool can be found on the sun deck of the following ships: A-ROSA DONNA, FLORA, SILVA and STELLA.

Whirlpool

A heated Whirlpool can be found on the following ships: A-ROSA AQUA, and VIVA.

Cabin facilities

In your cabin you will find a safe installed in the wardrobe, a hairdryer, bathrobes and slippers, insect screens and pool towels. The power supply in your cabin is 220 V/50 Hz. All sockets are European two-pin, meaning you will need to bring an adapter.

Air-conditioning

All A-ROSA vessels are air-conditioned throughout, with individual climate control in each cabin.

Drinking water

The water on board is potable, and bottled water is provided in your cabin.

Itinerary changes

On rare occasions, the Captain may need to alter the Cruise Itinerary. If this happens, the Cruise Manager will keep passengers informed.

Optional shore excursions

Optional excursions are available on all cruises. If the number of bookings needed to operate any excursion is not reached, the excursion may be cancelled.
