Day 1
Fly from the UK to Rome and transfer to your hotel. Upon arrival rest, relax and unwind, perhaps venturing out to eat at one of the city’s many eateries.
Day 2
After breakfast, why not join your tour manager for an optional tour of Imperial Rome’s most famous sites? An intoxicating blend of history, art and culture, charismatic Rome is one of the world’s must-see cities. On the tour, you’ll view the vast Colosseum, visit the Roman Forum, once the centre of Ancient Rome, and the fabled Pantheon. Rome has a plethora of historic and cultural sites to discover, as well as some of the world’s finest cafés and restaurants that you may choose to visit this afternoon under your own steam.
Day 3
Today’s optional tour will introduce some of the Eternal City’s more ‘modern’ sights, by Rome’s standards anyway. By foot, you’ll start at the Piazza di Spagna, one of Rome’s most famous squares, located at the foot of the Spanish Steps, and the 18th-century Baroque Trevi Fountain, into which many a coin has been thrown for good luck.
Wander through elegant piazzas, delightful gardens and sophisticated shopping streets like the Via Condotti before heading to the awe-inspiring St Peter’s Basilica, which overlooks over the vast Square, while the nearby Sistine Chapel houses Michelangelo’s famous frescoes. Here you may choose to visit the fascinating Vatican Museums, which house some of the Catholic Church’s most treasured artefacts.
Day 4
Check out this morning and transfer south to Castellammare di Stabia on the Bay of Naples for a four-night stay. En route, visit Pompeii where a local guide will reveal the city's treasures which lay buried by Mount Vesuvius' ash for centuries after the messive eruption in 79AD.
Relax and unwind at your new hotel, as you enjoy the rest of the day at leisure.
Day 5
One of the most scenic coastal roads in Europe forms the backdrop for today's included excursion. Here, fantastical rock faces plunge vertically into the sea and dizzy bridges span deep gorges while, in contrast, gently-contoured hillsides covered in vines, fruit and olive trees roll away inland.
Take in the view above the town of Positano, with its Moorish-style pink and white houses, and enjoy a visit to beautiful Amalfi, a thriving holiday town with houses rising up the hillsides and a main square dominated by the beautiful cathedral. Your final visit will be to Ravello, where the alleys, stairways and roofed passages cling to the mountainside and offer up some spectacular views.
Day 6
Today you might choose to join the optional tour and board the jet-foil for the 20-minute crossing to the wonderful isle of Capri. When you arrive in this famous hideaway of poets and artists, a minibus will take you to the picturesque village of Anacapri on the slopes of Monte Solaro. You will have time to take a chair-lift ride to the summit of Solaro (payable locally) before you continue to the island’s main town to visit the Augustus Gardens, overlooking the Canzone del Mare, former home to the legendary Gracie Fields.
Day 7
Spend your last day at leisure, perhaps enjoying the surroundings of the hotel, or by catching the local train to nearby Herculaneum or Pompeii, the latter of which was destroyed, and yet miraculously preserved, by the eruption of nearby Mount Vesuvius in 79AD.
Day 8
After a leisurely breakfast, transfer to Naples for your return flight.

Further Information
Travelling to Europe after Brexit
New rules apply when travelling to European Union countries and Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland. The following are useful guidelines which will help you prepare for your next adventure. Note that these new rules do NOT apply when travelling within the United Kingdom or to the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man or the Republic of Ireland. You do require government issued ID when travelling by air though.
Passport - British passport holders need to have at least six months validity left on their passport and it needs to be less than ten years old; passports which have a longer validity than ten years are not valid for travel once the tenth anniversary of issue has passed. These rules do not apply to travel to Ireland where you can continue to use your passport as long as it’s valid for the length of your stay.
Visa - If you’re a tourist, you do not need a visa for short trips to most EU countries, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland. You’ll be able to stay for up to 90 days in any rolling 180-day period. Different rules will apply to Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus and Romania; if you visit these countries, visits to other EU countries will not count towards the 90-day total. Travel to Ireland will not change and stays there will not count towards the 90-day total.
European Travel Information & Authorisation System (ETIAS) - Towards the end of 2022, it is likely that non EU citizens will be required to apply online for an authorisation to visit most European countries. The current details suggest there will be a charge of €7 per person and the authorisation will be valid for all trips made to the EU in a three year period from issue. We will advise you of confirmed details prior to your tour’s departure.
Border Control - At border control, you may need to show proof of your return journey - your travel documentation issued by us will be sufficient for this. You will also need to use separate lanes from EU, EEA and Swiss citizens if manual checks are required.
Healthcare Cover - You should always get appropriate travel insurance with healthcare cover before you go abroad which covers pre-existing conditions. You should understand the terms and conditions of your travel insurance and be happy with its cover for healthcare and travel disruption. Newmarket sell a comprehensive travel insurance policy. Ask our travel consultants for more information. You should also apply for a UK Global Heath Insurance Card (GHIC) which lets you get urgent state healthcare in Europe at a reduced cost or sometimes for free. Note GHIC is only valid in EU countries and not in Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland.
Mobile Roaming - Roaming charges have been re-introduced by some UK providers when visiting the EU, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland. Prior to travel, please do check with your phone operator for the most up to date information.
